CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY
During Phase I/II clinical trials, the availability of drugs within a patient's circulatory system is carefully monitored by pharmacokinetic assays. An individual's biochemical responses to these new drugs also are studied by analyzing the reduction of targeted cells, the induction of antibodies and the modulation of cytokine levels. These results provide critical information about the potential applications of new drugs. Currently two Phase I trials targeting acute myeloid leukemia and T-cell lymphoma are part of our clinical pharmacology studies. With an increasing number of clinical trials initiated at the Institute, we expect to see the continued growth of our clinical pharmacology program.
